WELCOME HOME CONTRACT


Baby boomers are feeling the pressure of empty-nest reversal from boomerangs – adult children returning home to live and live-in elders. To minimize the burden and avoid surprises, set clear expectations.


This contract between

hereafter known as "Adult Child," and

hereafter known as "Parents," covers the guidelines for harmonious living

between an Adult Child and

his

parents.


Logistics

Adult Child will move back into   room, or other designated location in the house,

If not currently employed, Adult Child will find a job no later than / / and is expected to work at least hours per week.
Adult Child will park   vehicle
unless otherwise specified.
Adult Child will take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of the residence/residents, such as locking doors at night and keeping all security codes confidential.
Adult Child will be expected to move out by / / .


Finances

Adult Child will pay $ per month for room and board, which will help cover reasonable household groceries and utilities.
Adult Child will pay % of   expenses for clothing, toiletries and other personal items.
Adult Child will pay % of   mobile phone bill.
Adult Child will pay % of   gas, vehicle maintenance and registration costs.
Adult Child will pay % of   auto insurance premiums and stay current on all payments.
If still eligible for coverage under Parents' health insurance policy, Adult Child will pay % of the premiums as well as out-of-pocket costs associated with doctors' appointments, emergency room visits, medication, etc.
If not eligible for coverage under Parents' health insurance, Adult Child will secure   own health insurance, pay % of the premiums and stay current on all payments or pay any late payment penalties.
Adult Child will provide Parents with an itemized list and value of   personal property, and if the value of that property causes an increase in Parents' homeowners insurance, Adult Child will pay % of the difference.

Mutual Respect

Adult Child will assist with household chores in the following ways:
Adult Child may keep   own hours, but will be expected to keep noise to a minimum between the hours of p.m. and a.m.
Overnight guests are not allowed unless cleared with Parents in advance.
Parents will not enter Adult Child's room without permission.

Other

Parents: add rules, restrictions, commitments, chores, etc., specific to your family.

I understand that living with my parents is a privilege, and it is my parents' right to revoke that privilege at any time. If I break any of the rules established in this contract, I may be asked to leave prior to our pre-established move-out date.
